It is my responsibility as A Visual Anthropologist to capture the essence of humanity, in good and in bad. To me, our good, although expressed in countless forms, comes from one source: Love. Yes, with a capital L ;).

I am not talking only of relational Love here. I am talking of a Love that comes from beyond us. If there is one experience that has taught me about this type of Love that I am referencing, it is my study of Sufism. Sufism is a mystic form of Islam that capitalizes on the concept of Love within and around the world. I was lucky enough to study forms of Sufism in Morocco over a three month research project. You can read more about that here

“Love cannot be explained, yet it explains all.”
— Elif Shafak, The 40 Rules of Love

Recently I have entered a more pivotal and exciting stage of my professional life where I am able to practice my art in visual anthropology for a living. I am constantly seeing Love around me and have found an opportunity to create a branch of my practice solely for capturing these very Love stories.

Whether you are celebrating a wedding, engagement, elopement, family story, newborn, maternity, or best friendship, A Visual Anthropologist in Love is focused on creating beautiful imagery featuring you and yours.
